Introduction

Plasm ("we", "our", or "the app") is a torrent client application for Android devices. We believe in privacy by default. This policy explains our minimal data handling practices.

Data Collection

✅ Data Stored Locally

Plasm operates on your device. The following data is generated and stored locally on your smartphone:

Torrent Metadata: File names, sizes, magnet links, and download progress.
Application Settings: Your preferences for download directories, network limits, and UI themes.
Usage Statistics: Real-time transfer speeds and connection counts (used only for display).

❌ Data We DO NOT Collect

We do not transmit, process, or store any of the following on our servers:

Personal Identifiable Information (PII) like names, emails, or phone numbers.
Location data or GPS history.
Browser history or external app usage.
Analytics or crash reports (no third-party analytics SDKs are installed).

Third-Party Services

Open Source Torrent Engine

The app utilizes an industry-standard open source engine to handle the BitTorrent protocol. When active:

Your device connects directly to other peers in the swarm.
Your IP address is visible to these peers as part of the standard P2P protocol operation.

Google AdMob (Optional)

To support development, the app may display ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

Advertising ID and approximate location (based on IP).
Ad interaction metrics.

You can opt-out of personalized advertising in your Android system settings (Settings → Google → Ads).

Permissions

Permission	Why it's needed
INTERNET	Required to download files via the BitTorrent protocol.
NOTIFICATIONS	To display active download progress and completion alerts.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE	Ensures downloads continue when the app is minimized.
STORAGE	To save your downloaded files to your device.

Children's Privacy

Plasm is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe your child has used the app, simply uninstalling it removes all generated data.

Data Rights

Since all data is local:

Access & Portability: You can access your files via any file manager.
Deletion: Uninstalling the app instantly and permanently deletes all app-specific data and settings.

Summary

We don't have servers to store your data.
Everything stays on your phone.
Uninstalling wipes all app data.
